Val Kantor came to live in Israel from South Africa

in 1979 with her husband and 4 children. She first became active in ESRA in 1996 and has run a hotline, was the befrienders coordinator and volunteer leader and is now a member of the ESRA executive. Val is also involved in organizing courses for volunteers and is always ready to give a helping hand, and as Adele Hunter writes, is a truly deserving winner of the Alan Katz Award as Raanana's outstanding volunteer 2009.

Ziv Hospital, Zefat, allowing local patients who previously needed to travel to Haifa or central Israel to receive this service. This is thanks to the generosity of David Klein, who donated the scanner in memory of his father, Yona Ben Shlomo Zalman z”l, who was murdered by the Nazis.

Adele Hunter grew up in Swansea, a small Jewish community in South Wales, UK where she became involved in Jewish and Zionistic organizations. Before making Aliya she was active in the 35’s women’s campaign for Soviet Jewry. In 1980 Adele, husband Michael and their three children made Aliya and settled in Ra’anana. After working in Tel Hashomer Hospital and Beit Hatefutsoth, Adele then volunteered in ESRA and has been actively involved in all aspects of the organization.
